The Saher camera system
How Saudi Arabia detects traffic violations 24/7
What is Saher?
Saher (ساهر — meaning "vigilant") is Saudi Arabia's nationwide automated traffic enforcement system, launched in 2010 and operated by the General Directorate of Traffic under the Ministry of Interior. It covers highways, urban intersections, school zones, tunnels, and commercial districts across the entire Kingdom.
The latest generation of Saher cameras uses AI technology to detect speeding, red light violations, mobile phone use, seatbelt non-compliance, unsafe lane changes, hard shoulder driving, and more — 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Violations are recorded instantly and linked to your vehicle registration and Absher account. You receive an SMS notification the moment a fine is issued.
What Saher detects automatically: Speeding · Red light running · Mobile phone use while driving · Seatbelt violations · Hard shoulder driving · Dangerous lane changes · Driving without licence plates · Wrong-way driving · School zone violations
