Pedestrian Crossing Rules 2026

All verified from Saudi traffic law

1
Always give way to pedestrians at marked crossings
At any marked pedestrian crossing, you must slow down and give way to any pedestrian waiting or crossing. This is a legal obligation in Saudi Arabia.
2
Approach at a speed that allows stopping
When approaching a pedestrian crossing, reduce speed so you can stop safely if a pedestrian is waiting. Never approach at full speed.
3
Do not overtake on approach to a crossing
You must not overtake another vehicle immediately before a pedestrian crossing — the vehicle ahead may be stopping for a pedestrian you cannot see.
4
Do not park on or near a pedestrian crossing
Parking on a crossing or within 10 metres is prohibited. It obstructs visibility for both pedestrians and drivers.
SAR 100–500 fine
5
Pedestrian warning sign — slow down
A triangular warning sign showing a pedestrian figure means a marked crossing is ahead. Reduce speed and be prepared to stop.
6
Give way after traffic lights change
After a red light changes to green, check that pedestrians who started crossing have cleared before proceeding.
7
Zebra crossings without lights still require giving way
At uncontrolled zebra crossings, if a pedestrian is waiting you must stop and give way. Pedestrian safety always takes priority.
