Overtake from the LEFT only
You must always overtake by moving into the lane to your LEFT. Overtaking on the right (undertaking) is a traffic violation.
SAR 300–500 fine

Only overtake when safe and visible
Only overtake when you can clearly see the road ahead is free. Never overtake on a bend, hill, junction, or anywhere visibility is limited.

No overtaking on solid white lines
A solid white or double white centre line means overtaking is prohibited. Only a broken/dashed line allows overtaking when safe.

No overtaking near junctions
You must not overtake within or immediately approaching a junction — other vehicles may be turning or emerging unexpectedly.

No overtaking on bends or hills
Overtaking where you cannot see oncoming traffic is strictly prohibited.

Signal before overtaking
Signal right before pulling out, return to right lane after passing, signal left.

Return to the right lane after overtaking
After passing a vehicle, return to the right lane as soon as safe. Do not cruise in the left lane unnecessarily.
