U-Turn Rules 2026
All verified from Saudi traffic law
1
U-turns permitted unless a sign prohibits them
U-turns are generally permitted at intersections unless a No U-Turn sign is posted. You must only turn when it is safe without obstructing traffic.
2
Never make a U-turn on a motorway
A U-turn on a Saudi motorway is a serious violation. If you miss your exit, continue to the next one and double back.
SAR 500–900 fine
3
No U-turn where visibility is limited
You must not make a U-turn on a bend, hill, or where you cannot clearly see oncoming traffic in both directions.
4
No U-turn where prohibited by sign
A red circle with a U-turn arrow and diagonal line through it means U-turns are prohibited at that location.
5
U-turns must not obstruct traffic
Even where U-turns are permitted, do not perform one if it would cause other vehicles to brake or swerve.
6
Signal before making a U-turn
Always signal right before starting a U-turn. Check mirrors and blind spot carefully.
7
Large vehicles — check if one movement is possible
If a single-movement U-turn is not possible, find a larger space or alternative route.
